President’s Message
Welcome to Cinderella’s Attic!
As a teacher, I have seen first hand the challenges that teenage girls face on a daily basis. This is perhaps most apparent leading up to school dances. I wanted to give girls the opportunity to feel confident about themselves and look their best on the biggest nights of their teenage years.
Cinderella’s Attic was started spontaneously, beginning as a garage operation that quickly demanded more structured organization. Word spread quickly of our mission and our first event. Donations trickled in across the country, from San Diego to Boston.
Our last event was an unbelievable success! Girls attended from several high schools across San Diego, and nearly every one of them found their perfect dress to wear to the prom. Support poured in from the community, and we were able to provide many that attended with gift certificates for hair salon services and formal wear accessories. The event brought so many smiles to young girls’ faces. It was a magical experience for all who volunteered. We are all looking forward to a bigger and equally rewarding next event.
The hopes for Cinderella’s Attic are high, having started off on such a strong foot. We initially plan to host events in the fall and the spring in support of Homecoming and Prom events. We are collecting dresses and accessories year round. We will also open the doors to the wardrobe for special circumstances upon request.
Thanks to all who have supported the organization since it began. This includes those who have donated dresses and accessories, financial contributions, and volunteer support. It’s you who help to keep Cinderella’s Attic running.
